This session reflected mostly on a personal project that I&#8217;ve worked on at my radio day job. In the true spirit of giving back to the <a href="http://wordpress.org">WordPress</a> community, I showcased the project as well as the story and planning that went into it. </p>
<p>As promised, here are the slides from my session on SlideShare.</p>
<p><center>
<div style="width:425px" id="__ss_5845647"><strong style="display:block;margin:12px 0 4px"><a href="http://www.slideshare.net/sixty4media/building-an-intranet-with-wordpress" title="Building an Intranet with WordPress">Building an Intranet with WordPress</a></strong><object id="__sse5845647" width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://static.slidesharecdn.com/swf/ssplayer2.swf?doc=buildingintranetwithwordpress-101120121529-phpapp02&#038;stripped_title=building-an-intranet-with-wordpress&#038;userName=sixty4media" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"/><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"/><embed name="__sse5845647" src="http://static.slidesharecdn.com/swf/ssplayer2.swf?doc=buildingintranetwithwordpress-101120121529-phpapp02&#038;stripped_title=building-an-intranet-with-wordpress&#038;userName=sixty4media" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

<p>Here is a break down of the plugins I mentioned in this session. The conversion of Keynote to PowerPoint to SlideShare didn&#8217;t take so well, so here&#8217;s a list of those plugins with links to find out more about them.</p>

<p>Twitter is a popular social media site that combines micro-blogging and instant messaging to an international phenomenon of letting people know what you&#8217;re doing. Sounds insignificant to some, but there are more ways to use it other than telling people that you&#8217;re hungry or doing the laundry. </p>
<p>For instance, we use a great plugin for <a href="http://wordpress.org">WordPress</a> called <a href="http://bravenewcode.com/wordtwit/">WordTwit</a>. This was made by our good friend <a href="http://duanestorey.com">Duane</a> at <a href="http://bravenewcode.com">BraveNewCode</a>, and the whole purpose of it is to make an update to your Twitter account when you publish a new post on your WordPress site. Combined with any other updates we do on the account, you can get the latest news from our site as we publish it.</p>
<p>In the age of iPhones and Blackberries, what better way to connect to your audience directly?</p>
